——I waved goodbye and went down the stone harbour steps.

我挥手告别，然后走下港口石阶。（“挥手”和“走下”动作用and相连，两个动作同时发生）

——Either you can talk to him, or I will.

要么你跟他谈，要么我去。（or链接you 和 I，表示不是“you”就是“I”，不可能二者同时去做事情。）
