我们时常会看到许多表示例子的缩写，

但
e.g./eg./e.x./ex./i.e./i.e 到底哪些才是对的呢？

这篇帮大家整理了最常见的四种缩写，别再搞混啰！

e.g.

注意：不是 eg. 或 e.g 喔！记得要打两点！

“e.g.”是拉丁文 “exempli gratia” 的缩写，意思是“例如、举例来说”，就是英文的 for example 或 for instance。

• We like all kinds of sports, e.g., tennis and soer. （我们喜欢各种运动，例如：网球、足球。）
• Our pany’s product are imported from many countries, e.g., France, Germany, and Japan.（我们公司的产品从很多国家进口，例如：法国、德国和日本。）

ex.

需要特别注意的是，没有 e.x. 这种缩写！

ex. 的意思是“范例或练习”，也就是英文的 example 或 exercise。

• see ex.3 = see example 3

所以别再把 ex. 放到句子里当“例如”用了喔！

etc.

除此之外，在举例的时候还要特别注意 etc. 的正确用法， etc. 是 “et cetera” 的缩写，意思是“等等”，相当于 …and so on. 。

提醒大家！

• “e.g.” 和 “etc.” 不能出现在同一个句子中喔！因为 e.g. 是举例来说，意旨举几个例子，所以其中就已经有“等等”的含意，因此若再加上 etc. 就是画蛇添足了！
• 不能使用“and etc. ”这种形式，因为etc已经包括了and。

I know a few of great teachers (Mary, Sandy, Susan, etc.). (O)
I know a few of great teachers (e.g., Mary, Sandy, Susan, etc.). (X)

i.e.

还有”i.e.”也是非常让人困惑的缩写，”i.e.”其实是拉丁文 “id est” 的缩写，意指“换句话说”。

英文就是 that is / in other words，目的是给予更多资讯来阐述前面所说的话。

• It happened in August, i.e., two months ago. (O)

(i.e. = in other words)
