题破山寺后禅院

清晨入古寺，初日照高林。

曲径通幽处，禅房花木深。

山光悦鸟性，潭影空人心。

万籁此都寂，但余钟磬音。

常建(708-765?)，唐代诗人，字号不详，有说是邢台人或说长安（今陕西西安）人。现存诗57首，存《常建诗集》3卷和《常建集》2卷。

CHANG Jian(708-765?) , a poet in the Tang dynasty, whose literary and courtesy names are unknown. He was a native of Xingtai (in present-day Hebei Province) or Chang’an (present-day Xi’an, Shaanxi Province). 57 poems of Chang are existent. He authored the 3-volumeChang Jian’s Poetry Anthologyand the 2-volumeChang Jian’s Collection. (买天春译)

An Inscription for the Back Yard of Zen of Bliss Fane

The morning enters the old fane;

The new sun shines o’er the woods tall.

To the quietude zigzags the lane;

Mid trees and flowers is the Zen hall.

The scenic hills do the birds please;

The abyss waves can clean one’s soul.

All falls calm and all feels at ease,

Except there lingers the bell toll.
